About Justin J. J. Watson

Dr. Watson was born and raised in northern Washington State on a farm near the Canadian border. He went to college at Hawaii Pacific University and Western Washington University where he graduated with honors. He attended medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine and graduated in 2012. Justin met his wife Traci while he was in undergraduate school, and they moved to Portland where he completed his General Surgery Residency and Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at Oregon Health & Sciences University (OHSU). During residency, he did a year of trauma critical care research and actively participated in the Thoracic Surgery Resident Association (TSRA) finishing as the national Vice President. Dr. Watson takes pride in supporting national policy development, authoring and co-authoring manuscripts, book chapters, reviews and podcasts.

He most recently completed a year of Advanced Robotic Thoracic Surgery training at Cedars Sinai Medical Center to focus on Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery. His wife Traci is in Wisconsin finishing her last year of dermatology residency after completing medical school at OHSU. Once finished, she will be joining the Billings Clinic Department of Dermatology in 2024. They have two wonderful children and are looking forward to getting back to spending more time together, enjoying the outdoors and visiting Traci’s extended family located throughout Montana.
