Dr. Nene attended Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College in his hometown of Pune, India from where he graduated with honors in Pharmacology, Microbiology, Pathology and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
He then went on to pursue residency training in Neurology at the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University, in Syracuse, New York, where he also served as chief resident in his final year and was awarded the "Best Teacher Award" by the medical students.
Following this, he pursued fellowship in Vascular Neurology (Stroke) at the Yale School of Medicine, where, aside from his clinical duties, he was actively involved in recruiting patients for numerous clinical trials such as CAPTIVA, ASPIRE and SLEEPSMART that are/were being conducted under the NIH StrokeNet consortium.
Dr. Nene has co-authored numerous peer reviewed publications that have been cited multiple times in the medical literature. He is board certified in Neurology, and board eligible in Vascular Neurology. He believes in promoting patient centered care by engaging patients as partners in their healthcare decisions. In his free time, he enjoys reading, swimming and exploring new places with his wife.
